Question about edibility of an eggplant

Asked May 11, 2016, 11:28 AM EDT

Good morning! Somebody gave seeds of what it seems an Easter eggplant. They are still very small and I hope they will make it because I put them on the ground thinking the weather will get better...but they keep pushing the warm weather back! Anyway, this is the ornamental eggplant that grows white and turns yellow when ripe. I was hoping to eat them, but I have heard conflicting opinions about their edibility. Are they edible, or are they taking space in my garden? I would like to know. Thanks a lot Susana Mendez

Parks seed advertises the Easter eggplant as an ornamental. It changes color as it matures, turning white and about the size of an egg.
