Growing trees in containers

Asked May 7, 2016, 4:56 PM EDT

Can I grow trees in containers in our zone? I'd like year-round privacy from our deck and I think container trees would work well. I'm just unsure if this would work in our climate. Thanks, Nancy

Most of the time it won't work unless the plants receive winter protection. The following website addresses your question.

When feasible, plunging the containers into the ground up to the brim in a protected place offers protection sufficient for plants that are otherwise considered Minnesota hardy.
