chinese fringe tree

How can I propagate my chinese fringe tree? It does not produce berries so I assume that it is a male. The smell is wonderful and friends have asked me to take cuttings but so far I haven't had any success.

Many woody plants can be propagated by cuttings. But, according to my research, you have chosen a tree that’s challenging.
