Thin Lawn/Oak trees

Is it true if you have several Oak trees in your yard, grass does not grow good by them. My lawn has irrigation and it keeps getting worse every year. I have fertilized and limed it also. please advise.

Are all of your oak trees next to each other? If an area gets less than 50% open sunlight or less than 4 hours of sunlight per day, it is considered shady.
