Getting Rid of Crabgrass

Asked May 5, 2016, 6:50 PM EDT

Is there an organic or natural way to get rid of crabgrass and similar looking weeds/grass? I use corn gluten in the spring which helps cut down on dandelions, but crabgrass seems to be immune and is taking over more of the yard each year.

The corn gluten works as a pre-emergent on new weeds germinating from seed (like crabgrass) but it won't help with perennial weeds regrowing from the root so you might consider getting your weeds properly identified so you know for sure which kind you've got.

The best 'organic' or 'natural ' way to get rid of weeds in the lawn is to grow a thick, healthy lawn that makes it hard for weeds to germinate and compete. The next best way has to be hand-pulling while they are young and never letting them go to seed.
