Garlic mustard

Asked May 3, 2016, 1:49 PM EDT

Can I cut second year plants with a weed whip, remove cuttings and then spray 1st year seedings with a broadleaf or non-selective weed killer? I have pulled many plants but worry they may go to seed before I am complete. Also, I don't always get the root of 2nd year, will that be a problem? We have about 1/2 an acre of woodlands that is heavily infested, the rest is not too badly infested yet. We like to encourage ferns and wild geraniums. We have also removed much of the buckthorn in the area.

It sounds like a big project but hang in there, Yes you can weed whip & spray, it is a tough weed, here is a link to hopefully helpful information.
