WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO START PUMPKINS FOR HALLOWEEN???
Once the weather is warm enough to germinate the seeds you can plant your pumpkins. If you plant now, at least some of your pumpkins should be ready by early to mid to late September. I already have my pumpkin plants started, but I grow dozens of pumpkins to donate to a local elementary school's second grade classes during the two weeks prior to Halloween. Your pumpkins will not all ripen at once. Make sure your soil is rich in nitrogen early for the seedlings, but then once the blooms appear you will want to make sure you have adequate phosphorus for the pumpkins to set and grow.
