Round up

I have weeds and unwanted grass growing underneath my tricolor beech tree. If I spray round up on the unwanted weeds and grass will it kill my tree?

Hand removal is the first option we would suggest.

You could also carefully use a non-selective herbicide containing the active ingredient glyphosate, being careful to shield any desireable plants and the bark of the tree.
Round Up, when it first came out owned the trademark for glyphosate. It is now available under several brands, but also sometimes mixed with other chemicals.
Read the label for "active ingredients" to be certain, and follow all instructions carefully.
