Farming question - 1867 journal quote "drawed corn all day." Is that husking or shucking corn?

A couple of thoughts...
One is planting, the other is cultivation.
Both are operations using a horse drawn tool. Either the planter or a cultivator.
My guess is that it is not the harvest.
If you had a reference on the time of the year then you could determine the answer.
May for planting, June for cultivating for weed control or October/November for harvest.
Glad you enjoy historical references to corn, I plant some demonstration plots every year at Farm Science Review to show some older varieties - even those from the 1860s. Ohio was a big developer of some of these early open pollinated varieties. And many of todays modern hybrids trace their base genetics to work started here.
