Soil treatment fungus

Asked April 20, 2016, 12:15 PM EDT

Hello! I just removed laurel bushes that were diseased--appeared to be white fungus on branches with leaves that looked like they had insect damage. I would like to plant in the bed again. Do I need to treat the soil or what should I do before replanting? Thank you very much!

Unless the disease causing the problem was phytophora or verticillium, a soil borne disease , there is no need to apply a fungicide.Insect pest would not have to be pre treated with an insecticide. It would be safe to replant the area.Incorporate a compost material, like leaf gro into the soil when planting your shrubs.

Thank you so much for your prompt attention!!
