establishing a winter king hawthorne tree

Asked April 10, 2016, 10:16 PM EDT

We just planted a Winter King Hawthorne. We'd love some direction on watering schedule to establish, then watering/fertilizing schedule for this first year. (West facing, full sun)
Thanks!

Use light, frequent irrigation, checking to make sure you're wetting the rootball and not just the surrounding backfill area. Apply the water slowly enough so it is absorbed into the rootball and doesn't just roll off.

This link will take you to a chart that will give you a starting point based on the size of your new tree, but don't follow it blindly: always adjust these recommendations to fit your unique soil and sunlight conditions, and always watch the weather!
