Do you have any programs to help low income families with fruit and vegetables for children? I was reading somewhere about this.

The Shelby County Extension Office teaches nutrition classes for families with children. We don't provide fruits and vegetables during these classes. We refer people to the serenity center on seventh street and Centro Latino to get food for their families. The extension office also works with the Shelby County health department to offer Cooking Matters Classes, a series of cooking classes. When adults attend these classes, they go home with groceries to replicate the recipes at home. The next series of Cooking Matters classes begins in midMay. Please contact Amanda Stoess at the Shelby County health department for more information.
