We assume you have Hypericum calycinum, commonly called St. John's Wort. In early spring cut back all the previous year's growth, either with shears or, for large areas of ground cover, a lawn mower on the highest setting or a nylon-line trimmer. For Hypericum Forestii,, remove any old, weak, or thin growth, then shorten the remaining stems back to the base or to strong shoots to keep growth compact. vw
