Pepper Germination

Asked April 5, 2016, 9:38 AM EDT

Hello! A couple of my pepper varieties haven't germinated after 21 days. Are they dead or could they still germinate? It says they can take up to 21 days. My other pepper varieties have germinated. Thanks for the help!

They might still germinate. Seeds of pepper varieties sometimes differ in time needed for germination.

Generally speaking, pepper seeds do take much longer to germinate than some other vegetables started indoors such as tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, etc. Using a seedling heat mat speeds the process.
