Hello,

Weedy grasses in lawn turf can be difficult to get control of. From the picture, I cannot tell exactly what it is, but you could take a specimen in to your local county Extension office. They would need to see the whole plant including flowers and seeds to identify. You will need to apply a weed control chemical specific for weedy grasses such as crabgrass. Often those products control seedlings as they germinate and control would be in the early spring. Commercial lawn professionals have more specific chemicals for control of lawn turf weeds, and may be worth a call.

Thank you for contacting Cooperative Extension,
