Ash borer tree disposal

Asked March 28, 2016, 2:54 PM EDT

My dad has a bunch of ash trees that were killed by a beetle, I think the emerald ash borer. He would like to know how to dispose of the wood. Can he burn it in his fireplace? How will he know if the bugs are still in there? He cut the trees down last fall

Yes, burning the wood is the best thing to do to get rid of the pest. Moving wood around can spread the pest, so it is best to burn the wood in place. For more info see:
