Hi Joe,

I cannot find any research that shows your dog might get sick from a septic system that is working properly and there is no sewage reaching the surface from the drain field (leach bed). We have most of our front yard in septic and leach beds, have 4 dogs who are on the lawn a lot and have never gotten sick. Bacteria and protozoa (parasites) could cause health issues if there is surface sewage and the dogs are exposed to that. I would contact a veterinarian for more help. Lucinda Miller
