Are there any fliers or information on how to backyard garden using the hydroponics method (gardening above ground)? What is needed to get started? If it is expensive? More beneficial or healthier than growing vegetables in the ground?

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants indoors where they are rooted in nutrient-enhanced water that is circulating. It is not done outdoors.

When you talk about gardening above ground, are you talking about hanging baskets? Or containers on a deck? Or are you talking about raised beds? These sit on the ground and are raised somewhat above ground level.

You may be using the wrong terminology so you cannot get any answers that make sense. Hydroponics involves a big investment plus somewhere indoors for this to happen. If you actually mean raised beds, there is not much, if any advantage unless the soil is too wet in the area. It requires wood or something used for the sides of the bed, buying soil to fill beds and having to trim around the edges with a weed whip to cut down weeds.
