1 Response

Pre-emergent herbicides form a residual barrier in the soil and must be applied before weed seed germination. Timing is important! Active ingredients of effective pre-emergent herbicides (Trade names vary as well as availability) that control crabgrass, foxtail and goose grass include:

benefin + trifluralin

dithiopyr

pendimethalin

prodiamine

trifluralin

siduron

In Jefferson County a pre-emergent herbicide should be applied on or before April 1st to be most effective.
