Hops at 10,200' elevation?

Asked February 19, 2016, 11:02 AM EST

I'm looking for a vary hardy hops plant for our extreme elevation. I've seen them growing at around 9,600', but could not find out what variety they were. I've got a sunny area for them. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Yes, I would recommend that you plant Chinook hops, its very hardy and I have seen it growing at 9500+ feet. Obviously not a vigorously as at lower elevations. Send me your address to one of my addresses below and I'll let you know when growers start digging rhizomes here in western Colorado. It'll probably be a few week before the ground thaws enough to start digging.
Cheers,
