How many times should you let a cow reproduce in her life time? When are they too old to have a calf?

This is one of those questions that is different for each farming scenario. There are a number of factors that can go into answering this question. I have farmers I work with here that are smaller farms under 100 milking cows that may have cows that are 10 or 12 years old that are still having calves. If the cow is healthy and still able to conceive and with the low milk prices right now she will continue to live on the farm and have a baby each year. I have seen beef cows that are in their teens still having babies. If you have more questions please contact me again. Thanks Cynthia
