My Adopted Plant is Dying

Asked February 15, 2016, 3:44 PM EST

I inherited this plant. It seems to be dying. I have already had to cut off one palm frond (believing it to be a sago palm). What can I do to stop the dying process? I water it sparsely and it has been indoors since I obtained it.

It's very hard to diagnose what is wrong with this plant. There are numerous reasons houseplants may get sick. Here is a link to the MU Extension guide on Caring For Houseplants. http://extension.missouri.edu/p/G6510

The bottom half of the guide gives symptoms and causes. Check it out and see if what your plant is experiencing is anything listed in the guide. You could also take the plant to your county Extension Center where they could send photos or part of the plant to the Plant Diagnostic lab on the MU campus for testing.
