Desirable has a protandrous (Type 1) flowering habit, therefore it should be ideally paired with a protogynous (Type 2) flowering habit. For East Texas, those varieties that are Type 2 and recommended for that area include:
Kanza--very scab resistant, medium nut size, high nut quality
Forkert--large nut, high nut quality, scab resistance equal to Desirable
Lakota-very scab resistant, med. to large nut, fair to good nut quality
