Hello,

Growing herbs is a nice way to add flavor and health to menus - by replacing salt and/or fat in recipes with the flavor and taste of herbs. The following information will be about how to grow and use herbs for culinary purposes

Ohio Factsheet on Selecting, Storing and Using Fresh Herbs http://ohioline.osu.edu/factsheet/HYG-5520

Healthy Cooking with fresh herbs from the University of Nebraska http://food.unl.edu/free-fresh-herbs-powerpoint-and-handout

Growing Herbs from the University of Minnesota http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/vegetables/herbs/

In addition you might be interested in using some of these online search options for local growers, farm markets and other local food resources. http://localfoods.osu.edu/resources/ohio-local-food-directories

I do not have specific links to information on herbal medicine. For some information on the history of medicinal plants there is a a Medicinal Plant Garden at the Indiana Medical History Museum- Marion County, Indiana http://blogs.extension.org/mastergardener/tag/medicinal-plants/
