Braken fern in hay field

Asked January 13, 2016, 5:54 PM EST

For the past three years we have had bracken fern creeping further in to our hay field. I have not yet tried any type of spray. I had read that multiple mowings could slow or reduce the fern. So far that is not the case. Trying to sell hay with a good deal of fern in it doesn't fly. If there is an acceptable spray for this purpose, I would appreciate having the information. Any other suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here is a link to the PNW Weed Management Handbook which has a section on Bracken Fern control. Make sure the chemical you use is registered for pastures. You can check this by referring to the pasture section of the handbook.
