Watery custard

I have made my mother's custard recipe all my life with perfect results until I moved to 7,000 ft. I cook it in a water bath & have added 10 minutes to the cooking time but the custard is watery! Help!

A baked custard will certainly take longer at higher elevations. Without knowing your recipe, I would say to use a bain marie (water bath) for your custard cups filled up to 3/4 high to the top of the cups. You may need to add moe water during baking time but 35-40 min. should be about right. The custard will be a bit jiggly still but should set completely in the refrigerator overnight. You may also try covering the cups with aluminum foil to help the custard bake more quickly.
