Strawberry plants 3 ft. off the ground

Asked November 15, 2015, 10:22 PM EST

My husband built a raised strawberry planter this year which is 3 ft. off the ground and open underneath. I plan to cover the plants with straw but what should we do with the area beneath the plants?

Probably you could fill in under the bed with straw, chunks of bales, or bags of leaves or something to insulate it somewhat. Strawberry plants are relatively hardy.
