My white pine tree needles are turning yellow and then they die. We've lost two trees so far and it is quickly spreading to the other trees. Sometimes it is just a branch but soon it affects the whole tree.

Your description could be several problems and I can't diagnose the problem without photo's and a sample. Two potential problems come to mind are root rot or white pine blister rust. The only way to tell for sure is with a sample. I would suggest you send it to MSU Diagnostic Services. Sample submital forms can be found at www.pestid.msu.edu. Please give me a call if you have more question or to further discuss your white pine. Jill
