I found a pack of spotted garden slugs feasting on pumpkins. This is the front of the house (south facing) where we have various shrubs (not a garden). Are these slugs a problem and should I kill them? A few weeks ago, I found some slugs eating japanese beetle grubs in about the same area, which made me think that we could be friends. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

If this area is not a garden and you've not noticed them eating, say, hosta foliage, you can just leave them be.
You may or may not want to be friends... our entomologist says that slugs are vegetarians, and don't eat we are not sure what they were doing together.
