Does the extension service still provide free white pine seedlings to Baltimore county homeowners? Restrictions on property size, etc., for use as windbreaks and erosion control?? thank you

We do not have free white pines. You could contact your local extension office to see what is available locally. https://extension.umd.edu/baltimore-county The following site discusses trees that will be for sale next spring in Baltimore County and how these trees should be used. http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/environment/forestsandtrees/bigtrees.html The following sites may be of interest to you.

http://www.fws.gov/chesapeakebay/BayScapes/bsresources/bs-nurseries.html White pines tend to become very large and also tend to lose their lower branches. If you have a large property, they can be used for windbreaks and erosion control. vw
