Hello, I recently moved (August 15) into a house in Waukesha county, WI. There is a mature trumpet vine on a large trellis, but it hasn't flowered since I arrived. It gets plenty of sun-mostly a.m. I heard that I should severely prune it, and that may solve the problem. If so, should I take it all the way down to the ground? I appreciate your assistance with this. Thanks, Fred Braby
It might be best to prune it back to the main trunk to retain some of the form (if you like it), but it won't kill it if you take it all the way to the ground. See http://www.melindamyers.com/Radio-Recently-Aired/creating-a-beautiful-garden-or-landscape/increase-b... for more details.
