Watering in the fall

Asked October 21, 2015, 1:38 PM EDT

Should I still be watering my newly seeded lawn once a week this late into the fall. We haven't had much rain but it seems like the lawn is wet every morning. Do I need to water so the it gets into the roots

The surface of the soil has to be kept moist until the seed germinates. Once it has sprouted the soil moisture has to be deeper to encourage the roots to grow deeply. Dig a hole or stick a screwdriver into the soil to make sure the soil is moist. If not, water. https://extension.umd.edu/sites/default/files/_images/programs/hgic/Publications/HG85_Watering_Tips_...
