These are Pawlonia tomentosa , commonly known as Empress or Princess tree. This is an Asian tree once planted here because of its valuable wood. However, in the U.S. is grows so rapidly that the wood is weak and worthless. Now the plant has jumped ship and is invasive. It's also not very hardy, the wood is weak, and the odor of the flowers can be obnoxious. We'd recommend getting rid of it ASAP.
