Dear Professor Some of our southern high bush blueberry flowered in autumn(like Emerald). Are there any bad influence on bloom or yield? how we can avoid, like Summer pruning or and other method ? What cultivar u recommend in mid florida ? Austin
I'm sorry that it's taken a long time for you to get a response. Your question was just assigned to me yesterday.
It's not terribly unusual for 'Emerald' to flower in the fall. I have not seen any reports of yield being reduced by its fall flowering, and 'Emerald' is vigorous, so I expect that, while you may have fewer flowers than you would have otherwise, you will still have fruit in the spring.
Here is a list of some cultivars (including 'Emerald') for various parts of Florida: https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/mg359
