Blue Spruce

Asked October 10, 2015, 6:50 PM EDT

I have a blue spruce about 12 foot tall. I have been putting a fence around it to protect from rabbit damage for the last 12 years. Do I need to continue doing this or will it be fine now that it is mature. Thank you for your help.

Rabbits prefer young saplings. I suspect that your spruce is big enough to take care of itself. It is more likely it will succumb to one of the common blue spruce diseases:

Because of these diseases, we do not recommend blue spruce.
