How do we get rid of thistle invading our flower garden?
We have been fighting thistle in our flower beds for 2 years now. We do have some thistle in the grasses near our home but this invasion started a year ago and we have been gardening for 25 years here. We pull plants continuously to keep it from going to seed. What is a good treatment? Can we torch individual plants to kill them or must we use some form of herbicide?
Unfortunately, non-chemical controls may not be effective. For instance, torching is only effective on seedlings. All it will do to established plants is burn the top off. Herbicides are effective, but please use them according to the label. Read here about thistle control:
