What is WRONG with these apples?

Asked September 23, 2015, 2:06 PM EDT

Our 7 apple trees started really giving us beautiful apples last year; it was a bumper crop with almost perfect apples with very little spraying This years apples--all varieties, the photo is a Sweet 16-- all seem to have something wrong, as evidenced by the photo I'm submitting. Do you have any idea what is making them brown inside, and how we can avoid this next year? We'd appreciate any help you can give us!

The apple maggots have discovered your trees. We sometimes luck out for a year or two with new trees but they seem to find our trees and then we have to deal with them. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/fruit/apple-pest-management/ You also can bag your apples. It is time consuming initially but once done you are set until harvest time. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/fruit/apple-pest-management/maggot/
