Finishing cattle

Asked September 22, 2015, 9:38 PM EDT

I have a black angus heifers on pasture, but what to finish her off on grain before slaughter. Which grain is the best to use? Kibbled corn or is there a better alternative? Thanks!

A grain by itself is not a complete feed. A complete feed or ration has energy, protein and at least major minerals to meet the needs of the animal. based on size, age and rate of gain. Few grains have the protein level that is needed. None have the mineral balance that is needed. Grains are primarily the energy source.

Here are some rations made for growth and finishing beef cattle.
