Bermuda grass weed

Asked September 21, 2015, 3:57 PM EDT

Our lawn and flower beds are covered in bermuda grass weed. For three years or more, we have pulled, overturned, spread mulch on beds...and within a week, it is back with a vengeance. How can I get rid of this. We are on well so nervous about chemicals.

Hand pulling of bermudagrass in flower beds will work as long the complete plant , including the rhizome is removed. There is an over the top herbicide available to homeowners for controlling bermudagrass in landscape plantings containing fusilade. Be sure to read the label for a listing of plants it can be applied over.If bermuda grass starts invading your lawn, the approach then is to apply Round Up in mid August followedd by overseeding in early September.
