Losing tips of Pecan Trees

Asked September 20, 2015, 1:26 PM EDT

I am always finding the tips of my Pecan Trees growth around my yard. I once heard that squirrels were doing this, but I have not seen it. I have no crop this year at all at either of my Pecan Trees. Maybe they watched as I cut down one tree leaning badly due to root rot.

Why are the tips of new growth (about 4" to 6" long) littering my back yard?
