Hello, My name is Haneen and I'm working at a lab experiment where I'm planting corn in a box where I added nutrients to the water and I covered in black to prevent the algae growth ... Now my problem is that I checked out the roots two days after I planted them and I found out that they're brown and the plant itself is almost dead, can you please tell me what's the problem and what can I do to get them back to life ?

There is a possibility that the roots have an infection (could be fungal) or are rotting away because of inadequate conditions. How clean was the water or media, what were the temperatures of the root environment? How about the nutrient solution concentrations?
