What is this plant?

Asked September 17, 2015, 11:18 AM EDT

This vine was in a decorative pot. I did not notice it climbing but it looks like it spreads very easily. It has alternate simple leaves that vary in shape from entire to lobed. It has a cordate base. Can you help me identify this vine, please?

Hello - Thank you for your inquiry. This is the Ornamental Sweet Potato Vine (Ipomoea batatas). We grow this as an annual and it makes a great trailing plant for containers. You can find this at many retailers in the spring in a variety of colors.
