How can I tell the quality of clover hay before I buy it from a farmer? Is there an industry standard, if so what is it? If not, what other forms of measurement are there? The farmers at Helvetia seem to have a disagreement going and science doesn't lie.
As with determining any hay quality you look for bright green color, sweet smell, no dust, debris or weeds.
I am currently out of the office, but will be back in tomorrow. I will do some looking regarding nutrient standards as I do not know those off the top of my head.
I will get back to you tomorrow regarding industry standards and any other things I can think of regarding clover hay.
Is there a certain aspect of the hay quality that is particularly in question?
