butterfly-friendly landscaping plant selection

I live in Fulton, Hempstead County, Arkansas, and I would like to plan a garden mix of butterfly friendly plants and vegetables. Is my area in the path for butterflies and is it possible to have a mixed garden? My planned area gets early and mid-day heat/sun; it faces the east. I believe the area is 8-10' long x 4-5' wide.

Is there a local agent who can advise in person?

There are very good publications that can help you. Remember that the monarch butterfly has a specific need for milk weed. There is a publication in the Arkansas Extension resources that covers butterfly gadens. There may be help at your local extension office:
