Squash Borers

Asked August 15, 2015, 10:10 AM EDT

Once again my squash (zucchini and yellow) have been decimated by squash borers. I kept a vigil for the adults this time, but never saw any. My plants seemed healthy, so I thought I had gotten lucky this year. No such luck. They wiped out my crop. How can I get rid of these pests? I live in Baltimore city. It's not like there is a lot of squash being grown around here... I don't understand why they would be endemic to this neighborhood. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
