We are look to train some people to do weed control in Parks and Township Right a Ways. We know we need Cat. 10, 23 plus Core. Our book is Pesticide Education Manual - A guide to safe use and handling - Third Edition. My question is this the current manual and what other books do we need?

We have been using a newer manual that is green titled, "Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Manual." I think you have the blue book, which contains most of the same information, but the green manual has a nicer layout and better pictures. However, the newer manual has a sample 50 question exam in it, which may help with the studying process.

You can purchase up-to-date study materials from the Penn State Publications Distribution Center. More information about ordering can be found on this web page: http://extension.psu.edu/pests/pesticide-education/applicators/certification/packets. These packets are non-returnable once purchased.

Once you are ready to take the exams you can find the dates and locations on the PaPlants website: https://www.paplants.state.pa.us/PesticideApplicator/ExamSearch.aspx Cumberland county is in Region 6, but you can take the exam in any region. Most regions do require you to pre-register before going and that can be done online. However, I think you still need to pay once you get to the site.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any other questions, you can email me back at sgripp@psu.edu.

Thanks,
Sharon
