Spider identification

Hello! Could you tell me what kind of spider this is please? I shook it out of my garden gloves after seeing that they were covered by a dense sticky web. Thanks,

Baltimore Maryland

This is a wolf spider. They are very common beneficial insect in Maryland. Generally shy, they do not want to see you. They will bite if handled, which can hurt, but is not of medical importance. They do not build webs as they are active hunters of their food, so he may have been hunting whatever insect was on your gloves.
