Micron testing for wool

Asked August 7, 2015, 9:15 PM EDT

I own a dag crushing plant in New Zealand and we are finding the fine dag wool is reaching a lot better price than the coarse dag wool. Is there a machine we can buy that is simple to test the micron of the wool before we crush it so that we can keep it separate?

There are two field testers that might work. Not purpose of testers so will need to investigate further. The OFDA 2000 has been used for a number of years and works pretty good. It's expensive. A new tester called the fibrelux is priced more reasonable. I am not that familiar with that machine. The fact that you are testing dags is a problem because of the excess dirt/grease. Would probably have to wash wool first.
