Maryland piedmont region natives

Asked August 5, 2015, 6:04 AM EDT

My family would like to help conserve native south Frederick County plant and tree species, especially those that are threatened or endangered. Our land is mostly wooded with dry upland and bog areas that drain into a stream. Which species should we consider planting?

The following publications should be helpful in selecting the plants you want. However, finding the desired plants at a commercial nursery may be the difficult part. If you learn to identify the plants in the wild, you should then be able to nurture them in place. Remember, it is illegal to remove native plants from the wild.
