Invasive vine

Asked August 3, 2015, 9:27 AM EDT

Can you help me identify this vine - it has invaded my yard and is taking over everything. I would also like to know how to get rid of it, in many cases I am unable to get to the roots as they are intertwined with other plants.

It looks like porcelainberry, Ampelopsis brevipedunculata, although it could be fox grape. The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is if you see fruits. The following link though describes other differences between the two and how to control porcelainberry. Grapes can be controlled the same way. http://www.fws.gov/delawarebay/Pdfs/Porcelain-berry_Fact_Sheet%20.pdf
